Prebiotic Greens vs Greens + Probiotics: What Buyers Should Specify

Prebiotic greens and greens with probiotics are different product briefs. One focuses on a selected substrate; the other includes live microorganisms. Treating the terms as interchangeable makes it harder to evaluate formulas, labels and stability plans.
The ISAPP consensus definitions distinguish prebiotics from probiotics. A prebiotic is a substrate selectively used by host microorganisms that confers a health benefit. Not every fiber qualifies simply because it is added to a drink.
For a greens brief, chicory-derived inulin or FOS can be reference ingredients to evaluate. Confirm the selected ingredient, its evidence, amount and intended intake. Also distinguish the ingredient’s input weight from the dietary fiber declared on the finished label.
Request samples at the planned serving. Fiber can affect sweetness, body and mixing; digestive tolerance is a separate question from whether the drink tastes pleasant.

For a probiotic direction, ask for genus, species and strain identification. According to the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements, effects can be strain-specific; a higher CFU figure alone is not a reliable way to choose a product. Labels and specifications should also make viability through shelf life understandable.
The blend, manufacturing process, packaging and storage conditions need to be considered together. A culture that works in one formulation should not automatically be assumed to perform the same way in a different greens matrix.

A prebiotic SKU can present a focused greens-and-fiber proposition. A probiotic SKU needs a clear culture identity and viability specification. Combining both is possible as a development brief, but it adds questions rather than removing the need for evidence.
